List of Parts 1. Barillet support, bottom of optical tube (plywood) 2. Mirror orientation bolt 3. Mirror support (plywood) 4. Rubber pads to stand the mirror up without scratching it 5. Primary mirror 6. Mirror attachment straps (steel wrap) 7. Felt pads to avoid attachment straps scratching the mirror (felt or double sided tape) 8. Springs 9. Wing nuts adjusting mirror orientation The mirror and the bolts are not drawn on top view (the bottom one). Mirror is not hatched on A-A section. Manufacturing The attachment straps (6) slightly press the mirror to avoid it sliding when the telescope is pointing horizontally. Without the mirror, these straps are slightly bent inwards. You have to open them to install the mirror. It is not a problem if the mirror moves a little but it must never become free from the barillet. This assembly is acceptable for small mirrors whose diameter is inferior to 200 mm. Storage Support (1) may be screwed at the bottom of the tube or in a wooden box that protects the mirror against shocks since it hangs to the barillet. |
